At DCIM, we think of wellness as the optimization of your physical vitality (good energy, restful sleep, smooth digestion, etc).
Unwell but Healthy? The Conventional Conundrum
Our conventional healthcare model is geared toward treating and managing disease. So, the concept or pursuit of wellness and/or prevention of illness is not prioritized, if considered at all. As a result, you may feel unwell, but because you may not fit into a “diagnosis” at your doctor’s office, you are told you are in great health! But, what if you still have a deep sense that you just don’t feel the way you used to feel? This is where the concept of wellness comes in.
What can we do?
A popular appointment in our office has been dubbed by our patients as the “40 year old tune up.” It is a nice milestone to look at the function of your body from the perspective of enhancement and optimization. From this vantage point, we assess all systems of your body through a physical exam and diagnostic tests that will allow us to see where imbalances are beginning so that we can prevent them from showing up in the future. We help you to be and feel your best self today and in the future.
This approach is not limited to a specific age. Anyone can pursue a path toward healing. Maybe it is the “tune up” prior to a milestone, or maybe it is shifted more toward trying to figure out why you feel a little more malaised than you would like, for example. Either way, your desires are our obsessions!
