At DCIM, we approach care differently than many other medical practices.  We think of care holistically. We believe in the body’s innate healing ability.  Our role is to acknowledge and cultivate that innate capacity during the healing journey, drawing from Integrative and Functional Medicine.  As a result, our inquiry into your health is deeper than what you may experience in a conventional, managed care model, and it is highly personalized.

The first step to becoming a new patient is ensuring that we are a good fit for your needs.  That begins with a free consultation with our Patient Care Team.  During the consultation, we will jointly determine whether we are well-positioned to help you with your needs, and if so, which practitioner at DCIM is right for you.  To request an initial appointment, fill out the form below.

FAQ’s for Prospective Patients

We work collaboratively with you and in consultation with any existing medical team, including your primary care provider.  We help you identify your personal goals and work within any limits you may have (e.g. vegetarian diets, allergies, etc.).
We begin with a “deep dive.”  Through our in person interviews and questionnaires, we seek to learn as much as possible about you.  You will find that our interest goes well beyond your initial complaint and into your diet, your work conditions, environmental factors, etc.

We also utilize extensive and specialized diagnostic testing.  These tests help us establish a baseline, identify additional considerations for your treatment plan, and chart your progress.

Our focus begins on Lifestyle, Nutrition, and Stress Reduction as the primary and foundational areas of wellbeing.   Our in depth interviews and diagnostic testing help us uncover imbalances not found (or even searched for) in the conventional, “managed care” model of medicine.

Our knowledge base and training includes both conventional and integrative medicine, so we draw on both as we develop patient-centered solutions.  We integrate targeted, researched and well sourced supplements, botanicals, and vitamins. Where necessary, we can prescribe pharmaceutical solutions.

The initial appointment and evaluation will last one and a half hours.  Unlike traditional medical appointments, our in-depth evaluation allows us to understand you and your body in a holistic way, uncovering opportunities to help you.  The entire time will be spent with your doctor, not shuttling around an office.  She will review all your relevant medical history with you, complete a physical exam, and ask you questions not just about your “chief complaint” but also about topics as varied as your daily nutrition and your environmental toxin exposure. You will leave this appointment with:

  1. A detailed, individually-tailored plan for your care
  2. A nutritional and supplement regimen, as appropriate
  3. Recommendations for advanced diagnostic testing, which we can order for your convenience
  4. Case-by-case indications
  5. A follow-up plan

It is a well-established (though not often recognized) fact that more individualized attention from an undistracted doctor associated with better health outcomes. A typical initial appointment at DCIM lasts one and a half hours, compared to 15 minute interactions in a typical managed care model. After you leave your appointment, our practitioners continue to work on your case, well beyond your face-to-face time. We analyze diagnostic data, research conditions and approaches, consult with other practitioners, and develop individually tailored health plans. Such individualized, in-depth attention is, unfortunately, impossible within the managed care model.

We care about you and want to learn about you as much as possible.  Our approach to healing depends on individualized and in-depth knowledge about you, your environment, and your medical history.

Although we do not accept insurance, many of our patients receive up to 70% reimbursement from their insurance plans. (Your particular reimbursement will depend on the details of your insurance plan.) Our office will provide a detailed receipt that allows you to directly seek any reimbursement that your insurance company may provide.

By operating outside the constraints of managed care, we are free of the restrictions and limitations that insurance companies place on clinicians.  We are therefore able to treat you holistically and as an individual.

As a consequence, our appointments are dramatically longer and more in-depth than those in the conventional, managed care model; our treatment and plans are individually-tailored to your situation and needs; and we are able to utilize more advanced diagnostic testing.

Your journey with DCIM is an investment in your health.
