Case Study: 36 y/o Female with Bloating
SIBO stands for Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth, and is a condition that we know now is the real root cause for a majority of “IBS” cases.
The Small intestine should be devoid of bacteria, but if for some reason bacteria move from the large bowel to the small intestine, you will have bacteria fermenting food high up in the GI tract and result in the symptoms of bloating shortly after meals, as well as changes in stool pattern — diarrhea or constipation.
For this particular case, the root cause for the bacteria being in the wrong place was a hypermobility condition which impacted the valve that keeps bacteria in the large bowel, and a long history of antibiotic use for acne.
We are happy to utilize both conventional and/or herbal antibiotics for the treatment of SIBO but are most keenly aware of identifying the root cause of the imbalance itself….as this knowledge allows one to prevent further episodes!
