5 Tips for Optimal Blood Sugar
The Five Most Important Systems to Address When Balancing your Blood Sugar.
1. Mindset:
So much of what is hard about changing all that follows below, is the way in which we are AUTOMATIC (and often negative). Thoughts get in the way of our success. Any of this sound familiar?
- “I don’t have any time”
- “My family will not change their eating habits, so neither can I”
- “I’ve never had success before, why should I now”
Well, I’m here to tell you — and research backs it up — this literally IMPEDES your success.
2. Sleep:
Less than Optimal Sleep = Impairments in Hormones = Increased desire for eating Sugar/Carbs (ugh)
3. Meditation:
Has been shown to balance our stress response, and therefore also improve our sensitivity and utilization of calories.
4. Exercise:
Movement (and honestly, if your baseline is low, just about ANY movement) will ENHANCE your insulin sensitivity making you more effective at burning all calories that come in.
5. Food:
Here, I want to stay with the theme of our practice and philosophy — it’s not just “eat healthy” but finding out how to INDIVIDUALIZE YOUR PLAN FOR YOUR BODY. Figure out how you respond to certain foods, and also whether specific fasting regimens would benefit you. Killing yourself with a diet that wasn’t built for who you are and what you need is just a painful waste of time.
It may not be that you can do all of this at once, but start to tick away and before you know it — you’re a rockstar!
