How Stress Changes Your Microbiome

We all know what a BOMB stress is to our lives, but maybe you don’t know what stress does specifically to your Gastrointestinal tract??

Studies show:
-It suppresses two very important bacterial strains: Lactobacillus and Bifidobacteria
-It increases (via adrenaline) the presence of Gram Negative Strains that have the power to kindle inflammation in your body.
-It erodes the protective lining of the gut, making you more susceptible to food sensitivities and intolerances.

This is part of the WHY the function of your GI tract (despite whether or not you have symptoms) is critical to your health.

All that talk about the impact of stress is indeed pretty stressful!!

Thus, remember that it’s not about eliminating stress (which is impossible) but about honoring the beast that it is. I am in a constant renewal and reappraisal of what I need to be doing to manage my stress.

And I’m curious, how has stress negatively impacted your health? And what helped you break the cycle?
