Hair Loss 101
Hair loss is an enormous bummer. The psychological impact that changes in your hair can elicit are not really acknowledged or talked about amongst most providers. If you’ve been battling with hair loss for longer than 3 months…Listen up!
Ingredients:
-Iron. You will need your stored Iron, Ferritin, to be at least 70 in order to deliver oxygen to your hair follicles and support mitochondrial function, which impacts hair.
-Zinc. Critical for your Scalp/Skin. Ideally have this checked alongside Copper, but certainly replete if insufficient in Zinc.
-Protein and Collagen are the literal building blocks for your hair! Take a minute to assess your consumption, and find creative ways like collagen or protein powders to build up if need be.
-Hormones. Elevated Testosterone, and or elevated sensitivity to Testosterone, as well as elevation in stress hormones (cortisol) can promote hair loss.
-Environment. Here a professional can help you determine if you have lesions on your scalp that are preventing proper hair growth. If not, great. But, regardless consider moving toward clean hair products that are without sulfates, parabens and/or polyethylene glycol.
Treatments:
*Replacing insufficient Nutrients
*Consuming ~70-90 grams of Protein a day
*Adding Grass Fed Collagen into your routine
*100mg of Biotin daily for Shine
*Targeted treatments for Hormone Dysregulation
*Low Level Laser therapy
And, lastly…the most important next level tips:
1. Patience. It can take at least 3, and sometimes up to 12 months to notice a difference in your hair.
2. Stress will just create an acute on top of chronic trigger to your hair loss. BREATHE.
3. Sleep is your best friend. (It both mitigate stress, and has its own beautifying qualities).
May this be of service. While I may not be your medical provider, I share this guide and encourage you to do all you can to keep your hair. The earlier you start, the better outcomes you get!
