COVID: another reason to get off your tushy!

It’s Friday, and we’re talking about Fitness!

Self-described inactive folks are almost TWO TIMES more likely to DIE from COVID than those who met “exercise guidelines.” [Salis, et al. Physical Inactivity is associated with higher risk of severe COVID-19 outcomes. British Journal of Sports Medicine. April 2021.]

Movement and Exercise prevent disease. It’s both painfully obvious and revolutionary. Help your body heal itself! 💪🏼

There must be a catch, right? What are these exercise guidelines? Shoot for 150 minutes of activity a week at minimum. 22 minutes a day. Be intentional, but it doesn’t have to be CrossFit.

Walking the dog is good. But if you have a lazy puppy or you’re scrolling through your phone and stopping every few minutes on the sidewalk: doesn’t count.

One easy test? If you can talk about it, you aren’t doing it right: Attempt to get your heart rate high enough that you would find it effortful to have a prolonged conversation.

Movement is free. Let’s leverage it for our health! 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏾‍♂️🏋🏾‍♂️
