Adrenal Dysfunction
Noticed any of these things? If so, you may be living with adrenal dysfunction. Many of the symptoms (of which there are many more than listed) are nonspecific, so it’s important to work with a healthcare professional when trying to confirm this is true for you.
As a nugget to help understand this phenomenon: the adrenal glands work to manage the ‘fight or flight’ response. Technically a true fight or flight response should happen rarely.
But, our reality today is such that we are constantly in fight or flight (deadlines, coronavirus headlines, politics, family responsibilities, errands, it goes on and on). Our system was not designed for this constant assault, and as a result, we can begin to have an imbalance in how hormones are secreted from the adrenal glands. This is a VERY common issue I see in clinical practice, and in fact — I’ve dealt with it personally myself.
One adrenal tip for the day: PAUSE. Breathe in for 4 counts of breaths, hold your breath for 7 counts, and exhale slowly for 8 counts. This can create a powerful feedback message to your brain that you are OK.
