Hints your blood sugar is off
How far does blood sugar go? Farther than you think. My patients are often surprised when I counsel them on the far-reaching impacts of balanced blood sugar, or “good metabolic health.”
We were taught (and continue to be told!) that good blood sugar means not being diabetic.
But, being metabolically unfit (in other words imbalanced blood sugar) ALSO results in:
- Low energy
- Feeling Hangry or Irritable
- Hormonal Dysfunction [heavy periods, absent periods, infertility]
- Excess Weight: outside your optimal range.
- The *Other* Excess Weight: What some refer to as “skinny fat” (the “right” range on the scale, but with underlying blood sugar and other metabolic abnormalities)
- Cognitive Dysfunction [Brain Fog, Alzheimers]
- Increased Risk of Heart Disease
- Autoimmunity
OOF. That’s no joke. Pretty far-reaching, right?
The good news is that you are in control of your metabolic health. The tough part is that dialing in your metabolic health takes a lot of knowledge about the right choices, and often quite a bit of support.
