I immediately felt at ease with Dr. Dsouza
I saw Dr. Dsouza for chronic fatigue. The first thing I want to say is she is so easy to be with. I have always been a little uncomfortable and borderline untrusting of doctors. But, I immediately felt at ease when I sat with her. She doesn’t wear white coat and she has a pleasant interpersonal dynamic. I have a wonderful internist, but he kept telling me that ‘my labs were normal’ I was surprised when Dr Dsouza added a bunch of different labs to what I thought was already checked one hundred times, my thyroid. Turns out, she diagnosed me with an autoimmune form of a thyroid problem. We worked to remove immune triggers, she supported my stomach system and put me on a low dose of thyroid hormone. I feel like a new person! I’m 55 years old, and regret not looking into integrative medicine sooner in my life. I can’t recommend her enough
Brings her extensive knowledge of conventional medicine and psychopharmacology
Dr Dsouza is a highly skilled practitioner that brings her extensive knowledge of conventional medicine and psychopharmacology to this beautiful eastern wisdom that is so grounding. I have struggled with the horrible side effects of Lithium b/c of Bipolar disorder. She has helped by testing my adrenals, adding nutrition and switching me to a naturally occurring form of Lithium that has so far been so much better for my body. I would highly recommend her and am really grateful that she exists. I wish more doctors were open to learning things outside of what was taught to them in medical school.
Dr. Dsouza changed my life
It would be an understatement to say that that Dr. Dsouza changed my life. I had to move away b/c of work, but in the six months I saw her I made more progress than in the last 15 years of seeing doctors. I came to her on 8 different medications, 4 of them were psychiatric in nature. You would think I would have some benefit to these but I felt horrible on a daily basis. She slowly helped me improve my digestion, removed the Protonix I had been taking for years by using herbs and changed my diet. My brain started to feel better. Then we carefully started decreasing the psychiatric medications and she diagnosed me with subclinical hypothyroidism. She didn’t add thyroid hormone, but just helped me with the nutrients that the thyroid needs to work. I am now taking one psychiatric medication for depression and nothing else! I have decided that I am committed to functional medicine and am only willing to see integrative practitioners b/c of my experience with her. It was hard work as I had to make a lot of lifestyle changes, but she was supportive and yet gently pushed me through that. I have considered traveling back to DC just to keep seeing her, and I’m now in California, so that says a lot!
Thank you, Dr. Dsouza!
I saw Dr. Dsouza for chronic constipation. I’ve had this issue as long as I can remember and thought not being regular was just part of life, until I met Dr. Dsouza. She suggested I take some tests to see what was causing this, and provided me with a protocol that would address the issue. Within a month, I felt a huge difference and by the end of the protocol, I was completely cured. It has changed my life. She combines her background in Western medicine with eastern medicine which, I think is a win-win combination. Another great thing about Dr. Dsouza is that she is very thorough and takes her time to explain the issue and the rationale for protocol that she prescribes. I knew exactly what was happening with my body and how it would be fixed. I cannot recommend her enough. I only saw her for medical reason (not psychiatry) and I recommend her for either issues, as she is great at providing individualized care for her patients. Thank you, Dr. Dsouza!
Helping me live with more quality of life!
Finally someone who has restored my faith in what healing should be! I am quite sick with depression, lupus, and fibromyalgia but we have been slowly chipping away at how to help me live with more quality of life. I am in the first stages of testing nutrients but changing my diet and adding back those nutrients I was deficient in has already made a difference. I have to prioritize saving money to see her as she is an out of network provider but it worth every penny. I can have one less dinner out. Being healthy is way more important. I feel confident that seeing her will be so beneficial to me and I’m looking forward to it.
Dr. Dsouza is super at complex chronic illness!
She is super at complex chronic illness! I love that she starts with what she calls the “foundations of Health” I had been to multiple specialists who put me on a variety of different drugs—honestly, one drug for each complaint I had! But, the first appointment I integrated her foundations of health plan which was an individualized nutrition plan, daily stress reduction, exercise, and sleep optimization. I already had a 30% improvement! With no drugs! We’ve been doing more testing now and it looks like I have chronic infections and a parasite infection that are contributing to my daily brain fog and fatigue. She is magical.
